Kätevä Project


So for kätevä we were divided into groups. Our group decided to have a New York Street Styled theme. What i decided to make were long sleeved jumper sweater with ribbings and flowers made with machine embroidery, and a skirt with a medium slit on the side, white fabric along both sides of the skirt and 3 buttons on the back. I tried applying the embroidery manually, or by hand, but i liked how it turned out more with the machine. I got the inspiration from some magazines that i had laying around my house. I personally had fun making this, the planning or designing was a bit crazy cause i had to go back and forth between scribbles and designs but in the end all turned out great. It took me what feels like forever to get done, but i learned so many new things. I had some pauses through the way but never mind that, i will be using the top and the bottom in the soon future. I did this outfit at my own pace because in my opinion that is the best way to learn and really absorb what is to be learned. I had some anxiety and panic attacks here and there but hey, last year i didn't even want my work to be displayed in front of audience, and back then it was only getting 1 thing done. This year i got 2 things done, turned out greater than i would have ever expected and am delighted for it to be presented up on stage! 

I'm satisfied with how everything turned out, very proud of myself, would love to have the other outfit done as well, but unfortunately i just didn't have enough time. This outfit can be used in autumn and winter as well i would say.

Today I have decided to write about travelling. The reason behind this is because i have developed an admiration for visiting and experiencing new countries and their cultures. Ever since a tender age, my parents would take me travelling and show me different kinds of culture every country had and how important it was to be fully aware of each countries culture/tradition before visiting.  Before any kind of travelling, it is important to know what kind of culture/tradition the country has/practices.
